Minute portions of plant tips are pre-sterilized under high magnification and readied for the meristemming process.

Using a flow chamber to achieve absolute sterility,  plant cells are entered into sterile, sealed test tubes.

About 6 cells are excised from the plant's meristem tissue and placed into test tubes containing growth media. The minute amount of plant tissue placed in the test tube is shown at the tip of the scalpel against a millimeter measurement.
