MeriClone Labs is a service which removes diseases and viruses from plant stock via. meristemming, heat treating and indexing to produce clean, virus-tested seed and cuttings/slips for sale to home, nursery and commercial field use. The sweetpotato plants we meristem are not genetically engineered or modified at any point. The process we use simply removes acquired/inherited diseases by heat treating (similar to inducing a fever) and by meristemming. Hence the name: "Meri"=Meristemming "Clone"=cloning , which (for plants) is simply propagating; eg. increasing the plant numbers via. cuttings from the clean, meristemmed mother plants. The use of meristemmed plants has been proven to produce significantly higher yields of heavier, more uniform sweetpotatoes and to produce better overall quality in the crop as well as the obvious benefits of beginning with a disease free field of clean, virus-tested seed/cuttings/slips from a known source. All our plants are indexed after successful meristemming as well as heat treated to remove any latent diseases or viruses which, though very rare, could possibly have survived the meristemming process. Indexing furthers the accuracy of the process and assures the buyer the plant has been thoroughly tested and is truly clean and disease free.
